Kansas City Zoo

Come and see animals from all over the world! The Kansas City Zoo is split into several areas: Tiger Trail, Africa, Australia, The Valley, and KidZone. The zoo has over 1,300 animals. It is split into several areas: Tiger Trail, Africa, Australia, The Valley, and KidZone.

The Kansas City Zoo has one of the best chimpanzee exhibits in the United States. Randy Wisthoff was hired as the Executive Director and CEO in 2003. Wisthoff previously worked at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. The zoo has continued to grow and add exhibits over the years.

Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals are the beloved MLB team in Kansas City, MO. The Royals reached the World Series in 2014 but lost in a heartbreaking series. The next season, they won 95 games and won the division title. They returned to the playoffs and beat the New York Mets to win the World Series.

They were created in 1969 as an expansion team. The Royals have played home games at Kauffman Stadium since it was built in 1973. Kauffman Stadium was renovated in 2009. A Kansas City Royals home game is a great experience for all ages!

Lake Lotawana in MO

Get away from the city and get on the glittering water! Lake Lotawana is an amazing 480-acre lake in Kansas City metro area. The lake is great for swimming, boating, and fishing. The lake is named after a Native American princess whose name meant “sparkling water.”

Spend a day on the lake on a pontoon with friends. Or if you’re feeling more adventurous, you can go speed boating, water skiing, or tubing. You can visit unique restaurants such as Canoe Club Lakeside Grill, Captain’s Sports Lounge, and Marina 27 Steak & Seafood. Lake Lotawana is great for a day or weekend trip!
