Lakeside Nature Center in Kansas City

Lakeside Nature Center of KC is a wildlife rehabilitation and educational center. Located in Swope Park, the educational center has exbibits about native Missouri wildlife such as birds of prey and snakes. The center has three walking trails, and it hosts indoor and outdoor wildlife programs.

The animal rehabilitation center houses a variety of birds of prey including bald eagles. It is one of the state’s biggest wildlife rehabilitation centers. Lakeside Nature Center is free and welcoming to all. Check their website for their open hours.

fishing at James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area

The James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area is great for picnicking, hiking, and fishing. Together it has over 3,000 acres of woodlands preserve. The wildlife area is named in memory of Senator James A. Reed.

There are 12 lakes and guests are allowed to fish with some restrictions. Please visit their website for more information. You might see giant Canada geese overhead or deer foraging in the woods. The James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area also has several loop trails.

Starlight Theatre in Kansas City

This outdoor theater has hosted Broadway shows since the 1950s. Starlight Theatre can entertain almost 8,000 guests! In the past few years, it has hosted CATS, Grease, The Sound of Music, and many more Broadway shows!
