The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts is the top performing arts center in the region. The non-profit’s mission is to enhance the Kansas City community though quality performing arts and programs. Aretha Franklin, Yo-Yo Ma, Philip Glass, and many others have performed at The Kauffman Center.

In 1988, John McDonald founded Boulevard Brewing Company. The brewery is still on Southwest Boulevard and still making great craft beer for the community. The brewery holds tours where customers can tour the facility and taste some of Boulevard’s craft beer.
